Our Story

Dragonfly and Birch was created to bring joy into people's lives and inspiration into their homes. The Dragonfly symbolizes transformation, self-realization, and adaptability. The Birch symbolizes new beginnings, growth, adaptability, protection, hope, good luck, and healing. These are the concepts that guide and define our business.

Our location in historic downtown Manchester, Michigan is equal parts bookstore, giftshop, bar, and event space. We have new books, many at discount prices, and used books in great condition. We have a wide and ever expanding range of genres from Romance and Mystery to Memoirs, Self Help, Cookbooks, and a large selection of metaphysical titles.

The gift shop showcases Michigan artists and craftspeople with a focus on Nature, Sustainability, and Whimsy. We have jewelry, candles, candy, drinkware, and an always changing selection of fun, interesting, and unique gifts.

We also have a wide selection of gemstones and crystals, incense, divination tools, and other metaphysical supplies.

In February 2024 we moved to the iconic former Black Sheep Tavern location on Main St, where you can sidle on up to our 100+ year old bar to enjoy locally blended loose-leaf tea, Michigan wine, mead, and cocktails and mocktails. In addition to our fun, unique, and ever-changing range of art and gifts. We host a diverse schedule of classes and events (both public and private).
